This page contains photos of THE HOUSE OF
CRESTS double and triple breeding cages, along with close-ups of these cages.
More close-ups to follow with details on how to build your own cages.
There are also several photos of the system of nests than have been adapted to fit on a metal base. The nests are fitted with a single thin bolt to which a washer is attached then passed through a nest felt then through the bottom of a nest and then another washer is placed on this same bolt but under the nest and firmly held in place with a nut. The bolt is about an inch and a half long. This properly fitted nest assembly is then placed into the hollow tube of the metal nest base. The entire nest unit is placed in the cage fitted up against a "twist-on" perch.
The are several reasons for the design and adaptation of the nest. First, it allows for all of the excrement of the chicks to fall on the bedding of the floor instead of on the wall of the cage. Second, it allows for easy removal of the nest for nest inspection, egg-candling, banding and cleaning of the nest. Third, as the hen lands on the perch the nest is fitted against, the resulting vibration causes the sleeping chicks to wake and immediately raise their heads to beg for food. The more they beg, the more times they get fed and the quicker they grow!

The following is a black & white photo of Judge, Nevil Thomas of England who along with all the judges at the 1987 National Cage Bird Exhibition in Columbus, Ohio, USA selected my Gloster as the Best Bird In Show!
The following three photos are of my good friend, Joe Ortiz of El Paso, Texas who paid me a another recent visit to add to his stud of Glosters. Joe has been happily working with my line for several years.
