EPISODE ONE
A long time ago...
In a galaxy far, far away...
Really?
No, not really, but...
We begin our journey through the Winner's Circle in 1976 where the first wins were officially recorded in the history books. This event was The NIROC Bi-Centennial Show which provided the venue for the first of what was to be many victories with both Glosters and Yorkshires!
Four years later in 1980, it was off to Earth City...Earth City, Missouri that is, to the very first All-American Gloster Show where much to the chagrin of my fellow passengers on our journey, I was bringing just one Gloster! To me, it was the finest produced here that year, a little, light variegated consort hen. My fellow passengers laughed when they watched me load one little Gloster showcage to exhibit against all the famous and admired American Gloster Champions of the day! Under Judge, David Guinn, this sweet little beauty went on to surpass them all!
Finally, we conclude the first phase of our journey in November of 1981 with mention of a small team of canaries that were first introduced to the North American fanciers at the most major event in the country; The National Cage Bird Exhibition held that year in Kansas City, Missouri.
Everyone who know my methods of breeding knew that I usually used Glosters for fosters of my young Yorkshires and despite the fact that I did win Best Unflighted Yorkshire at this National, it was to the surprise of all attending that a Don Perez Yorkshire "feeder" (a Gloster foster parent to the Yorkshires) under Judge John Bradbury, one of the original founders of the National Gloster Club, would win the first of what was to be the beginning of several National Cage Bird Exhibitions and National Gloster Club victories in the years to come!
So please come along with me on this exciting ride through time!
We now chronicle our journey as we travel for the first time to the East Coast of The United States of America all the way to Arlington, Massachusetts, the site of the next two National Gloster Club Shows.
The House Of Crests entered a solid team of Glosters where in 1983 & 1984 it made its' entrance with more than just The Best Gloster in each show. The team came up with many winners at each event!
As you will read the captions in each photo, you will find that this pure line was continuing to prove itself not only to be strong and viable, it was proving to be unbeatable in the all the major exhibitions over the largest entries of Glosters to be held in America thus far under qualified and competent judges!
In 1The 1984 show season did not end with the NGC Show which is held each year the last weekend in October. It continued in Chicago a little over two weeks later with The National Cage Bird Exhibition.
As it was being held in the back yard of The House of Crests, it was only proper that a good team was needed to represent it. Entered were a total of 75 Glosters and 25 Yorkshires!
With the assistance of Patrick Varian, President of the National Gloster Club in entering the team, we were ready to "let the games begin!"
Well, there are just too many winners to place on one page so please go to the Winner's Circle of Stars - Episode Two to follow along on this continuing journey in my
"quest to raise the best!"
