NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF RED ORANGE CANARIES (NIROC)
AND ALL OTHER CAGE BIRDS
NIROC is a non-profit organization founded in 1939 to further the breeding and exhibition of the Color-Bred Canary by promoting their annual exhibitions of Color-Bred birds by and for members and other bird fanciers.
NIROC
members try to help novice and experienced breeders with breeding and the care
of canaries, finches and other cage birds.
NIROC members meet on the THIRD SATURDAY of the month, except for July, August and November. The meetings are held at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1101 Manchester Avenue, Westchester, Illinois. Meetings begin at 10:00 AM sharp.

After
a short business meeting, bird care questions are addressed.
There will be a presentation by someone in the fancy at each and every meeting
in order to improve the knowledge and awareness of the bird aficionado. Refreshments are provided, along with a raffle of donated
items.

The NIROC newsletter is now published monthly except for November, keeping members informed about NIROC events, other clubs’ events and helpful tips for the care and breeding of our birds.

DO YOU “LOVEBIRDS’?

Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in the care and improvement of canaries, finches or other cage birds.
Members
can purchase canary, finch and other types of bird bands, customized to your own
individual code. Customized bands
may be ordered beginning in September.
Even
though NIROC started out mainly as a Color-Bred Canary Club, many years ago it
opened its doors to all other types of Canaries and other birds.
Those breeds are represented at our annual exhibitions and are topics of
discussion at our general meetings. To
date, many members breed several of the breeds of canaries and other birds.
